I got one of these the other day. It's been a challenge. Pin 3 is low and 4 is very high. I've got a really basic pick set (basic enough to be free at a conference) with no deep hooks. It's brutal.

I have an Ironsides 6 Lever lock I've had since I was a kid--I'm pushing 70 now. I managed to lose the key along the way. Do you know if it is possible to get or make a key for it? Thanks!

I ordered from The Float Life. I didn’t get the carrier. Maybe because it’s for the Onewheel? I’ve yet to use it, but doing some more “post-purchase research”. Hoping i can avoid as much buyer’s remorse as possible. ;-) Not a bike, but my Onewheel is is worth a few bucks, & in NYC, everyone could use a few bucks. I really want this to be the right one. 🤞

Can you change a yale 6 pin lock for this kind of lock as long as the cylinder is the same 70mm 35/35

If this had been a Master Lock, every comment would be lamenting how crappy the lock is... This also proves that picking a lock out in the wild is virtually unheard of. If it can take a beating, it is usually adequate. Then the next step is cutting.

🤔 hmmm, it looks like a C-series ABUS, could be C83, C72 or something similar. Definitely not E50 or E60, those don't have rectangular keys, but round ones

I am brand new to lock picking & this video is really helpful. It helps me figure out which locks to start with and also with managing my expectations of how long it should take me with consistent practice to start attaining some mastery of the basics.

I am not familiar with American locks, but when I saw that cap, a tool like this is the first thing that came to my mind. Those locks are a joke....

8:08 Since the step between bitting heights is only .0125 in the Best A2 system, there are no #1 master wafers. Minimum step inside the same chamber is 2 (.025), and those are tiny enough to make your head spin if you're not careful when building them. Almost indistinguishable from the spring retainer caps.

As a german lockpicking enthusiast, I obviously pick a lot of Abus and Burgwächter and I struggled so hard with the Atlantic. I'm so glad it's not a me problem but just a very good lock.

I know this is an old video, but just looking at the Ratyokes, it looks like they are built in such a way that you can replace the blade when it breaks. It depends on the details, of course, whether epoxy was used, how good of an epoxy it was, etc. But the blade only extends a few inches into the handle, and the primary binder looks to be those 2 forward rivets. Pop the rivets out, remove old blade, insert new blade, pop new rivets in, then polish. Once one of these does break, it might be worth contacting the manufacturer to see if they can swap blades.

I recently decided to get into lock picking and got me a cheap set for a few bucks. The plastic ones that came with it seemed so easy so I decided I'll try out a lock I have. Turns out it has security pins and couldn't pick it open just a few times so far. Maybe I should start off with lower security locks 😅

I tried the date lookup at locklab. PFM decodes as Nov 92. Seems way too early for my lock.

Potential Stress Test: What if you had three pieces of all thread and you removed that screw. Could you easily construct a jig that threads into those holes and that you could slam on with a hammer to force the lock to fail?
